Both incumbents out in DeKalb BOE race

November 30, 2010

Seems voters in District 1 and 7 were keen to the goings on at the BOE. Voters tossed both incumbents in favor of fresh faces and new blood. Though it is not the turnover I would like to have seen, it sends a message to the other board members that business as usual will not work. Congrats to Ms Edler in district 7 she took nearly 3/4ths of the vote. A resounding denial of Zepora Roberts. The race in district 1 was a bit tighter but Nancy jester finished with with a comfortable 55 percent of the vote. Now, let us sit back and see if two fresh faces can make a difference.

Amazing USA Today story on DeKalb schools from six years ago:

That was a great read. Nothing really has changed in 6 years. Something is indeed broken in our education system as a whole. Not just in DeKalb, but nationwide. The answers are going to be tough, because not all solutions are going to fit all populations.

    Congrats to Donna and Nancy!

No more nepotism, no more cronyism, no more shady SPLOST spending, no more bloated Central Office, no more scandals, no more Frankie Callaway’s and other retired administrators scoring cushy post-retirement DCSS jobs, etc. Put the focus back on the school house and away from the Mountain Industrial mega-complex.

Hoping we’ll see the end of the ineffective DCSS tenure of Bob Moseley, Ron Ramsey, Audria Berry, etc. Maybe we can have a school police dept. with one chief instead of two, and a school police dept. that actually solves crimes, which it fails to do now despite having nine detectives (air conditioning units and computers walk away from DCSS schools in astounding numbers).

It is time to clean out the entire Central Office upper management. The time is now!!
