Vernon On the Move? Where is Connie? And other musings about the 4th

Vernon is on the move

You don’t win elections based on yard signs, but driving through South DeKalb you see that Vernon’s supporters havce been busy placing his “jobs first” signs. Many are in yards, but most that I have observed are in places where permission to place the sign is probably not needed. He seems to have a particulary strong sign presence Along Flat Shoals Pkwy, and along the southern end of Wesley Chapel. Of all the candidates, He is the only one I have seen with signs in South DeKalb. On Twitter, VJ has picked up his tweeting. He does not tweet as much as Republican Liz Carter, but he has become familiar with the medium though many of his tweets are just retweets.

Connie Stokes; MIA

Has anyone seen Connie Stokes. It seems to me her campaign is MIA. With Primaries a little less than two months from now I would expect to see more of her in the media, and in the streets. Checking out her website, she attends a lot of events around the district, but she barely gets a mention in any media outlet big or small. Come on Connie, get out there and stir things up.

Liz Carter can win!

I have maintained for a while that a Republican has no chance at winning the fourth district. I still think it is an uphill battle, but Liz Carter has worked her ass off attempting to make this a race. Although demographically the fourth is overwhelmingly Democrat, I think that there are areas that could make the race interesting. Areas around Tucker/Northlake/Briarcliff, Norcross up to Duluth, and those parts of Rockdale within the district could pose a challenge to a weak Democrat. Imagine Vernon Jones beating Hank in the primary and is the candidate against a well organized Liz Carter. Vernon is a polarizing figure. You either take him or leave him. In the aforementioned areas, he may not play well. If he could not get a massive turnout in South DeKalb,  I could see neither getting the required 50+1 and the race going into a runoff. Although this scenario is unlikely, you never know what will happen in the days leading up to any election

Hank wins hands down

As for the reigning champ Hank “the incumbent” Johnson, I see no way he loses in the primary or the general election. He is a safe candidate. He plays well in all areas of the district, with the exception of Liz Carter supporters. The swing voters in Central DeKalb and Gwinnett have no beef with him nor do the fear him, and unless he makes some massive political blunder, he should be a shoe in for another term. If I had to make a complaint against Hank, it would be his inability to bring any significant jobs to the district. I would like to see a manufacturer or some service company announce that it is opening operations in the 4th.

Vernon Jones is the best Canidate for the 4th Congressional Seat. He has expierence that matters. 8 years in the State house. 8 years as CEO and having brought over 16000 jobs to dekalb county he is definently Jobs First.

Wow! The only thing you can critize Vernon on is illegal signs? Oh yes, we want a congressman who will bring legal signs to the district! Forget about the only candidate who has a proven record of actually doing something…contruction of new libraries, new parks, 3000 acres of land preserved, new police and fire headquarters, new performaning art center, new senior center, new sidewalks, road improvements, dual triple A credit ratings, balance budget, no layoffs, thousands of jobs created and leadership! Can someone please tell me why ilegal or nonilegal signs is what makes the best candidate for the 4th district! As Vernon said, the only force that can conquer hate is love. Keep winning and loving them vernon!

Carter’s not my candidate. We need someone who can bring jobs and businesses to this area and I just don’t see the experience. I haven’t been able to find any information on her business or her former or future clients. Each debate or forum she gives a different answer about whether she’s still working not working. Too wishy washy for me.

Liz Carter is Sarah Palin in disguise. She has never been to South Dekalb. She has never helped anyone in our district. The truth is Liz “SLIZ” Carter is a wink and blink female who thinks she can fool this entire district.

It’s obvious sliz Carter is fooling people. What about her three marriages and admitted adultry in her divorce papers! I guess we over look her ilegal signs. What small business she ran? Where are her employees?

Vernon is a diva, but I hope he takes Hank out. That way, Liz has a shot at winning.

Please notice that many of Mr. Vernon’s signs are being placed illegally. Many are on state or county property, large signs posted on fences illegally and hanging on county signage.

Yes, many of his signs I have observed are not on private property, or are in places where there could be questions as to whether they can be there legally. But he does have his army of supporters who are flooding the district with a lot of signage

I’ve noticed illiegal signs of Ms. Carter, well Liz, as well. I’m sure Mr. Jones received prior approval to place large signs in certain areas. Also, I’ve noticed a lot of the candidates signs are illegal. A lot of Liz signs in Rockdale are illegal.

Get on the move Liz. We have to wake up the Lithonia Area. I can not deal with another two years of Hank. My house, job and life depend on it.Dekalb County must get a great concerned patriot and business woman/man. Hank tells everyone in meeting that he loves the current TAX CODE and will leave all legislation on spending and tax to the experts ! HELP LIZ ! HELP !

Not sure who you are polling, but, the buzz for Liz Carter and Vernon Jones is strong in South DeKalb–yes, SOUTH DeKalb. At the “meet the candidates” forum held in South DeKalb on Flat Shoals, Hank was a no show, and Liz and Vernon shined. My only criticism for Liz is she needs to localize her rhetoric a little more. Tired of hearing nationalized ‘tea party’ talking points. South DeKalb has fiscal/social issues that she needs to address. For Vernon, his arrogance will probably cost him the primary–lol, again–if he doesn’t start looking in the mirror. Both are better than what we have.

In recent history, any time the incumbent has a real challenger in our district, they lose (McKinney/Majette, McKinney/Johnson). Hank is becoming the next Cynthia McKinney with his ‘Guam’ and ‘White Robes’ comments. I am also irritated that he didn’t disclose his illness before the last election, despite knowing it in advance. In summary, he has baggage, and he is definitely not a ‘hands down’ favorite in my book. Not my vote, at least.

Liz has put herself out there as a legitimate contender. I still wonder if even a moderate Republican can win in a traditional Democratic district. Her best shot, in my opinion, would be if Vernon wins the Democratic primary. I think he is polarizing enough to chase away moderate Democrats outside of South DeKalb. As for The examples you gave of the incumbents, they were all Democrats beating up on other Dems. I really believe that Vernon will give Hank a run, and neither may get a majority and end up in a run-off. If Hank makes it out of the primary, he would more than likely beat Liz. I could be wrong though.
